Anyone who grew up in a small town or within a small community can tell you it is an experience in itself. It comes with its benefits of freedom to roam and drawbacks of the boredom of adolescence. There is an excitement to looking forward to a throwing a bonfire, or a barn party which is hard to explain.

In smaller rural spaces as a Black girl you rarely see anyone that looks like you, in itself, this isn't necessarily a good or bad thing, but it does bring its own set of challenges
